Agreement on Cooperation Signed between the Higher Council for Environment and the Arab Youth and Environment Union

Khartoum, (Conference Bulletin) - The Secretary General of the Arab Youth and Environment Union, Dr. Mamdouh Rashwan, announced that an agreement was signed between the union and the Higher Council for Environment within the context of the cooperation between the union and the council in the field of environment.
In a press statement on the side-lines of the First Environment Conference, Dr. Rashwan also announced that the First Environment Conference has approved the Arab – African Youth Initiative under the slogan (Nile is venue of cooperation, rather than dispute), indicating that around 32 countries and 300 participants will participate in launching the initiative in next May in Sudan in the context of the people’s diplomacy.
He said that the most important issues due to be discussed by the initiative include the Renaissance Dam and ways to benefit from the Nile water as a means of cooperation rather than a source dispute. Dr. Rashwan said that this initiative will be exposed in Ethiopia and a number of Arab and African countries.
He described the First Environment Conference as a scientific and executive one.
He underscored the importance of the shelter belt project which will be implemented by Khartoum State for reducing the impacts of climate change and realizing sustainable development at the communities around the green belt.
