First Environment Conference of Khartoum State kicks off with Participation of 40 Countries and International and Regional Organizations

Khartoum, March. 12 (Conference Bulletin) - The First Environment Conference in Khartoum State began Saturday evening at Coral Hotel in Khartoum under the motto (toward a capital of green environment and sustainable development).
The opening sitting was attended by delegations of around 40 countries, international and regional organizations, the private sector, besides the Minister of International Cooperation, Kamal Hassan Ali, the former Wali (governor) of Khartoum State, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Khidir, a number of the state Parliament deputies, members of Khartoum State government and representatives of concerned national organizations.
The inaugural sitting of the conference was addressed by the Assistant of the President of the Republic, Brig. Abdul-Rahman Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi, the Minister of Environment, Hassan Hilal, the Wali (governor) of Khartoum State, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Rahim Mohamed Hussein, the Secretary General of the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources, Prof. Omer Mohamed Toam, and the Chairman of the Higher Council for Environment and Urban and Rural Development in Khartoum State, Maj. Gen. Omer Nimir.
The opening sitting was also addressed by chairmen of the delegation of Japan and Advisor of the Japanese Minister of Environment, the Undersecretary of the Qatari Ministry of Environment, Ahmed Mohamed Al-Sada, and representative of the Private Sector, Tajal-Sir Bashir.
The conferees have watched a film on implementation of the trees belt.
The Secretary General of the Higher Council of Environment and Urban and Rural Development, Dr. Al-Tigani Al-Sheikh Al-Assam, has welcomed the conferees.
The Assistant of the President has inaugurated on the side-lines of the conference the accompanying exhibition which included various environmental activities.
